PURPOSE/THEME
THE 102nd ANNUAL SILVER MEDAL EXHIBITION
The Scarab Club invites submissions for the Silver Medal Exhibition, an annual unthemed exhibition which is open to all artists. The purpose of the exhibition is to recognize the diversity and achievement of artists whose work shows creativity of concept, excellence of design and expertise of media; to display these works to regional audiences and to be an educational opportunity for students.
JUROR: SCOTT NORTHRUP
Scott Northrup is an interdisciplinary artist who was born, raised, and lives in Metro Detroit. He earned his BFA at the Center for Creative Studies (Detroit, 1992) and his MA in Media Studies from The New School (New York, 2003). His varied body of work includes film, video, assemblage, collage, photography, writing, and other media and has been exhibited and performed in galleries, museums, film festivals, and alternative spaces including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, NYC), the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD, Detroit), Gesamtkunstwerk Projectraum/Butter (Miami), The N'Namdi Center for Contemporary Art (Detroit), the Ann Arbor Film Festival (Ann Arbor), the Media City Film Festival (Canada), Mothlight Microcinema (Detroit), and Runoklubi (Finland). Northrup teaches filmmaking and interdisciplinary courses in the Entertainment Arts Department at the College for Creative Studies.
